Mirissa
Mirissa in Sri Lanka
Mirissa, a small town on Sri Lanka’s south coast, is located in the Matara District. It is part of the Southern Province. It is located approximately 150 km south of Colombo at an elevation 4 meters above the sea level. It is a popular tourist spot because of its beach and nightlife.
Mirissa, the largest fishing port along the south coast, is also known for its tuna and mullet, snapper, and butterfish. Although the first tourist accommodation was built in 1980, it wasn’t until mid-1990s when tourism began to increase dramatically.
